Can you believe it? This blog is now 4 years old! Thank you so much for sticking with me and the cats through over 1,000 blog posts. We feel very blessed to have made so many friends all over the world.
Cats Help Through the Hard Times
Life is a truly funny thing. When I was younger, I collected all kinds of cow-themed merchandise. One of the pieces that I still have is a small, handpainted hanging sign that reads: “Somedays you step in it… Some days you don’t.” That is a good description of how this past year has been! For me, this summer was a true trial by fire. I have a lot of hope for what the days ahead have in store.
No matter how bad things get, my cats know how to comfort me. Manna and Dexter can make me smile through my tears. When I’m happy, there is no one more eager to celebrate with me than they are. They don’t even care what it is that has made me so happy. That’s one of the amazing things about having cats in your life – they love you for what you are with no expectations of what they wish you were or what you might become. You’re enough just the way you are right now.
Starting this blog was one of the best things I ever chose to do! I had no idea when I started it what
it would become we would become. Through the work I’ve done with Playful Kitty, I’ve learned so much about who my cats really are and how much love they are capable of giving. Cats have a unique language of their own that you have to learn to really understand them. I’ve also learned how they can bring out the best in me by encouraging me to always work hard and giving me a reason to never give up.
4 Pawsome Things from the Past Year of Blogging
Manna, Dexter, and I have a lot to celebrate this past year of blogging! It was a big year that had a lot of firsts included in it. Since this is year #4, we want to share with you 4 of our favorite things that have happened over the past year.
1. We got to watch Dexter grow up into a big, healthy mancat!
2. Our Christmas videos
3. Taking Manna and Dexter to the BlogPaws Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
4. Reaching over 16,000 followers on Twitter. Thank you!
More Kitty Content On the Way
As usual, there are a ton of plans for Playful Kitty in the works. I want to continue making your experience on Playful Kitty’s blog and social media a better and better experience. If there are any problems that you have been having on this website or things you would like to see, please let me know! I always appreciate hearing from you.
A couple of new partnerships have led to some big new projects for Playful Kitty. You may have read about our partnership with BRANCH, a non-profit organization that helps survivors of human trafficking in Metro Detroit. Manna, Dexter, and I are helping BRANCH not only with their social media but with perfecting their line of all natural cat treats (and dog treats). Manna and Dexter are particularly excited about that. These treats will eventually provide a way to help the survivors to make a little bit of an income for themselves while they get back on their feet.
The second big partnership is going to bring some very artistic kitty-themed merchandise to Playful Kitty. I’m teaming up with my friends, Heidi and Kurt, of Aurora Images. You can see some of Heidi’s artwork by clicking here. All of the kitty-themed art, merchandise, and films (I’m sure Manna and Dexter will be featured a number of times) produced will be featured here on Playful Kitty! More information to come soon. It will be a ton of fun to get back to acting again!
