Every cat comes packed with their own unique personality. Each one is different! They have things that they like, things that they love, and things they just can’t stand. Some are very introverted, while others can’t socialize enough. Cats are every bit as quirky as humans!
Manna had a big hand paw in raising Dexter, so you can see some of her quirks in him. He has learned everything he knows about playing like a cat from her. It is funny to see how he mimics her! Two things they have in common is that they LOVE feather toys and they are both super dramatic when playing with them. Dexter seems to think that he is a superhero saving the world from a feathery arch villain.
If I give Dexter a choice, he will choose a feather toy every time we play. Dexter tends to prefer toys that “fly”. A toy is not as much fun if it crawls (though Manna disagrees with this). He will jump up into the air to catch a feather toy. Dexter also has a ritual of licking the feathers once he feels that he has properly defeated them.
A humorous side effect of having a huge burst of energy is what happens when that burst ends. It isn’t hard to tell when either Manna or Dexter are done with playtime. They will fall asleep right where they are! This week Dexter played so hard with the feather in the cat tree, that he fell asleep in the position seen below. Of course, every time I tried to take the picture, he would open his eyes again. Maybe it was just that I was laughing so hard.
That is so cute! Zoe is the big player here, and she’s the same way. She’s all go, go, go, until she’s done. And then it’s ZZZZZZZ. 🙂
I’ve been alternating between going crazy and crashing lately too! Maybe it is pent up energy from not being able to go out as much as usual, especially after my exciting show weekend.

Bear usually does more watching than attacking … and he’s slowed down a bit too. That’s hilarious that they both fall asleep where they’re playing!
