Whew! This Christmas came and went in a flash. Between Christmas Eve and Christmas day, the cats and I were very busy! Manna and Dexter received gifts, got a delicious Christmas dinner, and got in some good play time. There were a lot of great moments and tons of laughs. Let us show you how our celebration went!
The Night Before Christmas
Our Christmas Eve was full of excitement! Since we were having family over for Christmas dinner, there were a lot of little last minute things that had to be done. I decided that I wanted to get the desserts baked ahead of time so we could be using the oven for the real food.
If you have been following Playful Kitty for a while, then you probably know that my kitties like to help me with everything. I may not be a very good cook, but they absolutely had to supervise every moment of my baking. They helped me to bake chocolate chip cookies, a cinnamon roll apple pie, and muddy buddies.
Manna and Dexter were really hoping I would bake the ham that night. They noticed the ham when we brought it home and had been anxious to get some ever since. Of course, warming the ham wouldn’t happen until morning. The cats made many hilarious demands to see what I was doing, only to find out it had nothing to do with ham.
My gift wrapping abilities were also carefully monitored by the cats. Nothing but quality wrapping here! Free cat hair with every present.
The Christmas Day Pawty
Around here, Manna is the real hostess of any party. She greets ever guest, inspects every decoration, and takes in all of the loving that she can. Everyone loves to see Manna! It may not be easy to tell Manna and Dexter apart in photos, but in person, there is no doubt which one is Manna.
This was Dexter’s very first Christmas. We haven’t entertained a lot in our home since he came to live with us, so he is still catching on to how it works. When people come over, he holds back and watches for a little while and then comes out. He’s not quite as outgoing with guests as Manna is, but he still enjoys the attention.
At dinner time, the cats finally got to have some ham! They were beyond delighted. Manna almost didn’t wait for her dish to be served. She tried to sneak away with mine, but I caught her just in time (see photo below). She had checked the table several times while she waited for the ham to come out of the oven.
Our (Secret) Santa Paws
Santa Paws sent Manna and Dexter a special gift! This year our Secret Santa Paws was all 9 of the kitties at Purrchance to Dream. Please take a moment to stop by their blog too. What a wonderful group of kitties!
The kitties from Purrchance to Dream sent Manna and Dexter a nice big package. It contained all of Manna and Dexter’s favorite things. My kitties received a big container of Temptations, two fun catnip bananas, two large catnip mice, and a Da Bird feather toy! In addition, Dave and I got them a new bottle of catnip spray and a fuzzy black mousie.
Once their gift was opened, Manna and Dexter couldn’t care less about anything that was happening around them. They immediately became overwhelmed by the catnip. It was a ton of fun for them and for our guests! These two are cute and entertaining. They were definitely the life of the Christmas pawty!
And To All A Good Night!
How did the party end? Dexter was first to fall asleep. He played and played with his new catnip banana until he just dozed off from exhaustion. He was laying right in the middle of the living room where he had opened his gifts! We put the banana on top of him and he just kept sleeping. We covered him with wrapping paper, but he was totally gone. Even Manna stopped over and checked him out to see if he was okay (which he was).
Manna couldn’t help but get some sleep too. She fell asleep on one of the chairs at the dinner table. It was super cute! She did wake up to see everyone out the door, though. Manna’s adoring public could not leave without petting her.
