A Life Long Tradition

Halloween has always been one of my favorite days of the year. I was immersed in the haunted traditions of Halloween since I was only a month old. My dad was a Halloween junkie and didn’t want me to miss out! There are photos of little baby me sitting in his lap watching horror movies with him. Haunted houses and ghost stories are well woven into this time of year for me.

Though I had never owned a cat until I became an adult, cats have always been a part of my Halloween celebrations. My 2 favorite Halloween specials feature cats! Despite all the horror movies, these two are actually Halloween comedies. I still watch them every year and they bring back great memories.

The first of my favorite cat Halloween specials is Felix the Cat in Switches Witches. It is a short (7 minutes), black and white, silent cartoon from 1927. Felix plays Halloween tricks on his neighbors until he runs into a scary witch! It is very whimsical and creative. Cartoons just aren’t made like this one anymore!

My other favorite cat Halloween special is Garfield’s Halloween Adventure. Growing up in the 80’s, Garfield was the hottest kitty around! The whole special isn’t available in one video on Youtube, but you can see most of it in clips. Garfield and Odie decide to go trick or treating and get more than they bargained for when they end up at the mansion of a spooky old man. The songs feature the award-winning voice of Lou Rawls.

I finished the word search in 55 seconds. Can you do it faster? ProProfs (the service I use for the word searches) says that they will be fixing the scoring very soon. Currently, you are receiving points per word that you find rather than by how quickly you find them. That is why everyone always gets the same score.

Instructions for the Interactive Word Search

  • Words from the word list on the right are hidden within the puzzle. The words may be spelled forward, backward, or on a diagonal.
  • Click on the first letter of the word, drag the cursor across the word and click on the last letter of the word.
  • The puzzle is finished once you have found all of the words.
