Cat Naps Word Search Title

Cinco napping on my bed.

Nap time is Pawsome!

Brrrr! It has been cold outside over the last week. While dogs may wondering what to do with their dogs while it is too cold to play outside, cats have it all figured out! Cinco and Manna’s favorite chilly day activity is napping -especially if that includes some good cuddle time. Cinco’s favorite place to curl up for a good nap is in my lap. He is a bit of a “velcro cat.” Manna, on the other hand, is more independent. She will curl up by herself just about anywhere. I’ve found her in some funny places! If it is really cold, she will paw her way underneath the shirt I’m wearing and cuddle against my tummy. Sometimes I put on my robe and make a little pouch to carry her around in. It is super cute!

Naps are an important thing to kitties everywhere! Cats sleep an average of 15 hours per day. The most popular reasoning for this says it is because of the energy it takes for cats to hunt for food. It is a lot of work to  stalk and catch prey! Since they are obligate carnivores, they rely on hunting for their food in the wild. Somehow, cats’ bodies have not come very far in the process of domestication. A lot of the things they do that are needed for survival in the wild, but not necessarily in a human home, still remain with them.
