Celebrate Your Pets!
April 11 is National Pet Day! Cinco and Manna both think that it is a great idea to celebrate pets. Well, to be exact, they feel that it is a very good idea to celebrate cats. They think they are pretty special (and I think they are right). Cinco and Manna have been there for me through a lot of really hard times in life. They have also been there for some really wonderful moments too. One of my favorite memories is holding little baby Manna in my hands on the ride to the vet after I picked her up from my Dad’s house the day we met her. I’ve used that memory many times when preparing for an acting role where the character is unbelievably happy.
Sometimes coming up with ways to celebrate with the cats is difficult. It isn’t that we don’t love them, quite the opposite really. It’s because we spoil them every day! These kitties have it better than I do. However, this weekend we are doing something special. I’m finishing up making the homemade cat scratcher I’ve purchase the materials for. The store bought ones have always been either not tall enough for Cinco (and thus he won’t use it) or out of my price range (I’ve spent only $10 on the materials for this one). I will make sure that I post a step-by-step DIY post in case any of you think it’s a great idea! Surely, the kitties will need a little time to get used to it, but I think they will like it.
We will be celebrating with all of the basics too! There will be plenty of love and praise, treats, catnip, and playtime. Cinco and Manna know how to have a good time and get exactly what they want.
