Cats domesticated themselves. It makes them happy enough to live with us, they we didn’t have to trap them first! Cats followed us from continent to continent, braved the open seas with us, and have even launched into space with us. A great human-cat bond makes for happy cats!

Bonding Through Play

Cinco and the Feather

Cinco loves peacock feathers

One way to bond with your cat is to engage in interactive play with them. Play can help your build your cat’s trust in you and help them to see you as positive and fun. It is also a great way to stimulate your cat’s brain and help them get some much needed exercise. It’s a double win – playtime makes your cats healthy cats and it makes them happy cats.

Choose toys that simulate hunting for your cat. Laser pointers, feather toys (especially those with wands), and catnip treated anything are great toys to bond over! Let those toys become a mouse, bird, or insect as you play with a cat. Don’t forget to let the cat catch the toy from time to time. Catching a toy in play builds confidence!

Healthy Treats,  Happy Cats

Manna & the Feather Toy

Manna is all about play!

Who doesn’t love getting a treat? Healthy treats are a great way to strengthen the bond with your cats. A great way to reinforce your cat’s good behaviors is to reward them with a treat immediately after the behavior.

Remember to take a look at the nutrition label on your cat’s treats! Those treats may seem like tiny nibbles to me or you, but they can be a large percentage of your cat’s daily recommended calories. Some of the ingredients may surprise you too! Look for a treat that is not only tasty, but healthy and species appropriate.
