Mark Twain Pool Hall Square

Mark Twain and one of his cats playing pool.

“When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction.”
– Mark Twain

Mark Twain was not only  the humorist and writer that put American literature on the map, but a cat lover as well! He lived a very hard life that was laced with tragedy after tragedy.  Still, he was able to capture the love of people all across America taking inspiration from his darkest moments. He was known to enjoy having several cats at a time. To me, it appears that he liked cats far better than he liked other humans. Cats appear in his writing with great affection. The word search below uses some of the names of Mark Twain’s cats (he had a sense of humor in naming them).  You can read more about Mark Twain’s life on July’s Cats in Art post.
