As much as my cats love to play, they are just as fond of napping. On cold winter days, like we have had lately, they are even more interested in curling up in a nice warm spot and catching a few zzz’s! Both Manna and Dexter are sleeping soundly next to me as I write this, in fact.
When we first brought Dexter home at 8 weeks old, he was nothing but a furry ball of energy. Dave and I didn’t think he would ever stop moving! Growing up has made quite the difference. Now that he is 9 months old, he loves a good cat nap. I would say that he sleeps more than Manna does at this point, but to be fair, she has always been less of a sleeper than other cats.
One of Dexter’s favorite places to sleep has always been on the cat tree. We always say that nap time is “getting serious” when Dexter climbs to the tube at the top of the cat tree for a nap. He will sleep through anything when he is up there!
When Dexter falls asleep, he completely relaxes. He becomes a kitty noodle! This weekend as he was having some very serious naptime up in his tube, I noticed a particular problem that I may have to address soon. See if you can spot the funny problem in this photo.
There is definitely a “fitting” problem here. Dexter has grown up so much, that when he relaxes, he sticks out both ends of his tube! His veterinarian isn’t going to believe it next time she sees him. Seeing Dexter in the cat tree reminds me of that old poem about the man too big for his bed as his “body fits on it, but barely upon it”. It seems that this may be true of the other platforms on this cat tree too!
