A Taste of the Not Quite Wild
Ocicats wear spots and stripes together flawlessly! They are actually the only breed of cat with such a wild look that is product of breeding purely domestic cats. No wild cats were used in the creation of this breed at all! In the 1960’s a cat breeder from the Detroit Area accidentally began the Occicat breed when she bred a Siamese cat to and Abyssinian cat. The American Shorthair was later mixed into the breed. How the Ocicat turned out spotted is a bit of a mystery. What we do know is that they make terrific pets! They are smart, playful, social, and great with other pets. For more information on the Ocicat breed, read my post Ocicats – September’s Breed of the Month.
