Manna talked me into doing a duet with her inspired by a song recorded by some real musical talents – Dean Martin, Ray Charles, Martin McBride, Glee, and more.  One of these days I will figure out how to get Cinco to join in (he’s really shy).  This song is an ode to the battle that Cinco, Manna, and me have every single morning. Somehow I have been designated as the official cat pillow and both of them sleep on top of me (or snuggled up really tight to me) every time I go to bed. Unlike many cats, Cinco and Manna do not act as alarm clocks (I free feed). Rather, they will not let me get out of bed in the morning. Cinco actually hissed at me once when I tried to sit up! Without any further ado – “Mommy, It’s Cold Outside.” Sorry about the shoddy slide show, but I’m having technical difficulties around here.

(Not Exactly) Wordless Wednesday

Mommy, It’s Cold Outside Lyrics

Just in case you can’t understand us, here are the lyrics to the song (Robin, Manna, Both):

I really can’t stay

But Mommy, it’s cold outside

I’ve got to go away

But Mommy, it’s cold outside

This snuggle has been

Been hoping that you’d sleep in

So very nice

I’ll keep you warm, brought you my mice

The roads will be such a worry

Oh Mommy, what’s the hurry?

I have to get my butt out the door

Your toes will be cold on the floor

So really I’d better scurry

But Mommy, I’m cute and furry

Oh maybe just a few minutes more

Listen to me practice my roar

I’m gonna be late

Mommy, it’s bad out there

There’s lots on my slate

There’s nothing but snow out there

I wish I knew how

I’m purring just for you

To break this spell

Nobody else snuggles so well

I ought to say no, no, no hun

Are you telling me that I won?

At least I’m gonna say that I tried

Glad that you are seeing my side

I really can’t stay

Mommy, don’t get out!

Oh, but it’s cold outside

I’ve got to get up

But Mommy, you’ll freeze out there

Are you going to move?

It’s up to your knees out there

You’ve really been grand

I’ll put my cheek into your hand

But don’t you see

How can you do this thing to me?

We can’t just sleep till tomorrow

Think of my life long sorrow

Why do you have to give me those eyes?

If you caught pneumonia and died

I really can’t stay

Mommy you’ve sold out

Oh, but it’s cold outside
